Fire and Brimstone

Well, not so much brimstone. Although there was fire. Apparently I just burned someone to death. I didn't even know I had that sort of writing in me. But, there you go. I'm a scary biatch! Characters beware!
*Hehem*
I am finally picking up on my New-Year's resolution-y thing I wrote on a sticky note about a week after New Years. I titled it "My Writing Plan" and on it are the following dot points:
  • Finish five chapters before I go back to university.
  • Try to write every second/day.
  • See if I can crack 5,000 words in a day.
So far I have been pretty terrible at sticking to it, but I think today has been a small success. I put on some good music, opened up Soulless and got my lazy butt going. Amazingly, I managed to procure about 3,000 words and finished a chapter. With burning. Lots of burning. And drunkeness. And character development. Woo!

I have also discovered something rather interesting. Since I began writing assorted novels and short stories, I have gotten much better at typing. I haven't done a test to determine exactly what my word per minute count is, but I'm guessing it is much higher than it ever would have been had I not written said novels and delectable short stories. I have even begun to be able to touch type slightly. I can look away at my auxiliary screen and continue typing. It still needs a bit of practice though. My Ws become Es and my Us are generally Is lol. And my grammar has gotten a lot better. I now know how to properly add dialogue, and even know where and when to use whom! So, here's some potentially useless advice: if you want to learn to type better and faster and more grammatically correct, consider writing a novel. It'll also give you something to boast about. "Hey, what hobbies do you have?" "Well, I'm a writer. I've actually finished a novel." "Wow, really?"

In other news, I finished my Tardis project! Here's a picture of its transformation from pretty average to absolutely sexy.

Feeling: Kinda hungry. I haven't had an dinner yet. It's getting pretty late.
Wearing: Comfy blue shorts that are slowly becoming more and more worn in places. Also a grey tee with a pink tie printed on it that I got from a thrift store.
Eating: Not sure what I'll have for dinner. Probably sausages on bread. And maybe some garlic bread. My brother just started working at a pizza shop. He gets free pizza and pizza accessories all the time. It's wonderful...

Salt

Well. This is quite atrocious. I have not posted in quite a while.
I'll admit I have been quite distracted of late. The holidays began and all I really felt like doing was rewatching some of my favourite television shows. I finished of both Fringe and Castle in a matter of weeks, the former airing its very last episode last week. I was very sad, but happy to see the ending of such a great story. It was both a good ending and bad - bittersweet you might say.
I have also been busy with some arty projects. I sewed myself up the cutest little Slenderman plushie with the new sewing machine I got for a very early birthday present. This is him here:

Snuggly death...

I've also created a tiny plush version of the turtle character named Kameo from the very awesome anime Gun X Sword. He can be hung as a necklace just like in the show. My current project is sitting outside drying nicely. I got a small Tardis DVD shelf thing with doors for Christmas. Unfortunately a lot of details on it were incorrect. My inner Doctor Who fan was screaming "Fix it! Fix it!" So I am in the process of repainting, adding recessed panels, new windows, a working, flashing light and redoing the signs. It is looking absolutely smexy so far.

But, the real reason I have hardly posted is because I have not been doing any work on Soulless. Bad Raechel. Very bad. *Smack on the wrist* But tonight, the stars have aligned and I have produced approximately a thousand words, which is from both edits and new material.
I noticed some strange things while researching a bit about herbs, gems and other things with supposed magical properties for a section of the novel I wrote a fair while ago. I was trying to find some materials with cleansing properties. I've already learnt that salt is used as a magical barrier in many different practices - mainly just from watching Supernatural and Teen Wolf. Eventually I settled on the salt and the herbs sage and silver birch, but it was quite amusing going through the lists of other herbs and their supposed properties on several different occult websites. I surmised that if I added up every different explanation of each herb's powers from each site, every different herb would have all the properties of every other one and as such, turn each herb into miracle one-cure-alls. It just made me shake my head at the people who might think that these things might actually be true. Even though I have this opinion, I find myself shopping rather regularly at healing crystal shops. I find myself explaining to the owners that I'm only in there because I love and collect rocks XD

Wearing: New PJs. These ones are peachy-orange, purple and polka dotted. So comfy ^_^
Eating: Nothing. It's currently one in the morning. Although I had some of my Mum's incredible beef stew for dinner. So good...
Feeling: Kind of sleepy. Also quite proud of myself for getting back into this novel.

Deliciously Tender...

It's happening again! The words are making it out of my brain, down through the conduit of my fingers and into the computer! I have written just a small bit, but I think it's worth a blog post since I haven't done one about my writing for quite a while now.
I was thinking in the shower about how I needed to introduce my main villain. I couldn't have him simply turn up at the end of the novel and have my readers go all "Well, who's this now and what's he got to do with anything?" So, I'm going to have little snippets of his storyline in with the main character's travels and eventually they will join up at the end.
You might not remember, but I gave this villain a quick overview in a previous post. His name is Faaro Lovell. On the outside, he's a charming, well dressed aristocrat who's the right hand and advisor to the king. But, he has a secret. A big secret. And I think it's justified for me to leave that secret for readers to discover when the book is finished, hey?
Anyways, the scene I wrote to introduce him is one in which he meets a small girl outside a bakery. She's young and barefoot and looks like she hasn't eaten in days. He wins her over with a smile and a sticky bun. He then invites her back to his house for dinner. Emphasis on the 'for'.

Here's a quick picture I whipped up of what Faaro would probably look like. Photo supplied by Falln-Stock, textures, edits and glasses done by me.

Feeling: Tired and head-achy. Typical that it comes on when I finally start to get some writing done.
Listening to: Secrets - A cover by the incredibly talented street violinist Bryson Andres. Seriously, just go watch this.
Wearing: Pjs. And a towel. My hair is wet.
Eating: Nothing. It's midnight. I had pizza for dinner though.

Whack-a-Mac

So, I did this today.

This is the first pinata I have ever made - and it turned out AWESOME. It's for my little-big brother's up and coming 18th birthday party.  He's a big nerd and is totally PC orientated, so I though it would be funny to bash up an old Mac. It was made over a period of about four hours, from a pizza box, cereal boxes, cardboard, pipe cleaners, paint, print-outs, tissue paper and LOTS of masking tape

No updates on Soulless yet reader minions. I have been too busy shopping for costume parts, making said costume, watching 2 Broke Girls, cleaning ibis poop off lawn chairs, and making an epic pinata.
Hopefully there will more writing done soon though. The little voice in my head keeps poking me and telling me to get a move on.

Eating: Had delicious meatlovers pizza.
Wearing: Cute little black dress. It has over sized buttons on the front.
Feeling: Tired. Who knew that making pinatas took so much out of you?
Listening to: Funky Town. An awesome cover by the Australian band Pseudo Echo.

Bruised Hips and Doodle Brains

No tidbits for you today! It's not that I don't want to give you one, it's just that I have none to give you! *Guilty face* I have not done any more writing since last post - in which I hadn't done any either. So it has technically been two posts... But! You do get something this post! Just not any writing. The keyboard was not being very friendly this evening, so I turned to my trusty old friend the pencil and had a nice long catch up session. Oh, we talked about all sorts of things; he'd just gotten a new haircut and was feeling rather sharp, his partner, the eraser, is still pretending that everything he's ever said never existed. You know, the usual stuff. But then we got down to business. The result of which we are quite excited to show you.

We are proud to present to you tonight, the very first scene of Soulless - in sketchy graphic novel form!

What say thee of my newest arts?

Apart from my doodling, the only other work that's been done on Soulless is a full page of notes and scribbles as to what has to come next in the chapter. I am not one of those people who can write flying by the seat of their polka dot pants. I really have to plan out what I want to happen. Otherwise I find myself going back time and time again to fix things that don't make sense or adding things in to make later things add up. Sure I will probably have to do a little bit of that anyway, but with this planning before each writing session, I seem to get a lot more done and done awesomely.

Feeling: Like I need to go and brush my teeth. Also my hip is bruised. I ran into a wall. Again. I swear they gang up on me.
Eating: I had a honey comb flavoured, chocolate coated ice-cream on a stick. Was delicious...
Wearing: PJs. As usual.
Listening to: Only You - Yazoo. Yay for epic 80s music!

New Decor

It's virtual decor, see?
Just a quick post here. I haven't done any more writing since my last one. I've been busy, uh, cleaning, I think. And watching Grimm. Again.
Just wanted to know what my readers think of the new blog title I had been pondering getting last post. I've always loved the word 'inkslinger' and thought it would be fun to incorporate. Don't forget the blog description either, that needed a change too.
Opinions, criticisms and cookies all welcomed.

Listening to: Dirty Little Secret - All American Rejects
Wearing: PJs. At two in the afternoon. Aren't I naughty?
Eating: Had some Delta Cream bikkies. I suppose I'll have to get some lunch soon.
Feeling: Unsure, but accomplished.

And now something funny.
